The Glasses Habits Survey 2026

Industry surveys track what people buy. Ours asks what happens next — how the glasses fit a week later, what they really cost, and how you actually chose them. So we're counting. Two to four minutes, anonymous — and your answers become our first original-data story.

Take the survey

The survey is open October 20 – November 3, 2026. It asks how many pairs you own and how often you replace them, what you paid for your most recent pair and where you bought them, your biggest frustration when buying glasses, how you choose frames — and the one no sales chart can answer: have your glasses ever not fit right after you bought them, and what did you do about it? It also asks whether you think of glasses as a medical device, a fashion accessory, or both, whether you'd wear smart glasses, how much you trust face-shape advice, and two open questions where you can tell us about the best pair you've ever owned and the one thing opticians get wrong.

Take the survey — 2–4 minutes →

It's run on Tally. Our privacy policy names Tally as the processor and covers exactly what is collected, before you answer a single question.

Anonymous, by design

Your answers are anonymous. We never ask for health records, prescriptions, or anything we don't need. At the end there are two optional extras: a first name, only if you're willing to be quoted, and an email, only if you want to enter the draw or are open to a follow-up chat. Skip both and your answers still count, exactly the same.

What you get for taking part

  • Everyone who completes the survey gets 10% off at GoOptical.online — the code is on the completion screen, right after you submit.
  • You can also enter a draw for a $50 frame credit at Go Optical LLC (the official rules are published here). Leave an email on the final question to enter. The draw takes place on November 30, 2026, and the winner is notified by email. One entry per person.

How we'll report it

Results publish on this site after the survey closes on November 3, 2026 — there are no results yet, and we won't drip out partial numbers. When the story runs, it will follow the standards we set for every data piece we publish (see How We Test & Research):

  • The sample size (n), printed next to every percentage — no orphan statistics.
  • The field dates (October 20 – November 3, 2026) and how respondents were recruited.
  • The full question wording, so you can judge the questions as well as the answers.
  • An honest caveat: this is a self-selected sample of our readers and followers, not a representative national poll — we'll say so on the page.
  • Downloadable data — the aggregate counts behind the story, so anyone can check our arithmetic and cite us.
  • Small numbers flagged. Any breakdown based on fewer than 30 responses will be labeled too small to read into.

The first story from this survey will be the fit story: how often glasses don't fit after purchase, and what people do about it. Until the survey closes, the most recent piece from our research desk is our analysis of public data: Where Connecticut Buys Glasses.
